Why does this site use a different color scheme every time it loads?

Catherine Mix asked me to create a color scheme for her site that was similar to that of her paintings. I decided to do her one better by having the site query one of her actual paintings for a background and foreground color (the foreground color is used on the animated signature and the rectangles that pop up behind the "about/ contact/ news" links.) The site does this by randomly choosing two pixels from the painting and assigning their color values to the foreground and background colors. Catherine can use any of her paintings for the purpose of being queried. The one she is currently using ("Metallic Rainbow") is shown below, left. On the right is a demonstration of proof-of-concept that dynamically creates a grid of randomly queried color values. Click on the grid to make it re-query the painting.
